*TiPS:
When using the repeater network you're talking across several RF links, that link the repeaters together, please remember the following:

-
It's a good idea to make an effort to pause for about a second after you key your microphone (before speaking). This will allow the RF links to connect between all the linked repeaters, and will help ensure that others hear the first word or 2 of your conversation, on the different repeaters in the network. This becomes more important as the number of people in the conversation grows.
-
There is no courtesy tone on most of the repeaters in our network so, when you get beyond 2 or 3 people in a conversation it's a good idea to check for doubling. That is, after you key up and start talking, drop it for a second to make sure you're not doubling with someone else.

Note:

Linked repeater networks introduce some delays in audio between the repeaters. All of the repeaters are linked by RF, so it takes time for the linking to happen and start sending audio out. This delay ends up being about a 1 seconds (sometimes a little longer), before audio comes through from one repeater to another. Keying up and waiting about a second normally gives the repeaters enough time to connect all the audio paths so nothing you say will be missed and your meaning will be clear.

EchoLink

The North Andover 444.100 repeater features an EchoLink node. Please keep in mind the following when using or talking with EchoLink stations:

-
Our EchoLink node is vox operated. This means EchoLink stations cannot respond unless RF based stations let the repeater tail drop completely.
-
When hearing an EchoLink station announced please acknowledge the station and throw them in the conversation. Remember the previous tip!
-
When connecting to 444.100 using EchoLink please listen to the repeater before identifying. You will be announced by the EchoLink software on the first break in the conversation, and there could be a conversation in progress.

Thanks!!!
